Review/ Giveaway: Discovery Girls Magazine

This giveaway is now closed. Please enjoy the review!
And the winner is... Laurie Brown. Congratulations Laurie!

When I found out I was going to get to do a review for Discovery Girls magazine I was THRILLED! My older daughter (now age 10) got a subscription to the magazine for Christmas a couple years ago. Being my oldest, I hadn't even heard the term tween yet, but I knew she was definitely going through some changes physically and mentally. What a relief it was the find material that would help our little girl transition into the great unknown!

This magazine is filled with information for young girls about friends, boys, and how to deal with parents. I was sent the most recent issue to review, and it took me quite some time to read through it. I can imagine that your tween would be able to spend hours lost in it's pages.

Here's something I'm really excited about: Discovery Girls now has a Middle School edition for girls age 11 and up. We all know that there is a big difference between younger tweens (age 8 and up) and their older counterparts. Discovery Girls has given the older set the same great features that the original magazine had.

What I most liked about this magazine is that the articles are short enough to keep a tween's interest, but they give a good amount of information. If a family cared to, they could read the magazine together, giving mother and daughter a great chance to talk about issues that may be happening in a young girl's life.

What I would change is that the magazine only comes out every other month. I would like to see the magazine coming in every month so parents have a constant reason to be talking to their girls about the issues covered.

The giveaway! Discovery Girls Magazine has generously offered a one-year subscription to their original Discovery Girls Magazine to one of my readers.

How to enter: In the comments, tell me who you will be getting this magazine for and what you are most looking forward to reading. That's it; it's that simple!

The boring stuff: This giveaway will be open until 8 PM Arizona time on Saturday, June 18, 2011. United States addresses only, please!

I have been given copies of the magazines for my review. I was not compensated in any other way, and the thoughts and opinions in this review are mine.

Thanks for stopping by. Good luck on the giveaway! If you are not a winner but would still like to give your daughter some great tween content to enjoy, see the Discovery Girls Magazine websiteto subscribe!

OH this is too cool I have not heard about this before today. This subscription would be for my 11 year old daughter. I am a homeschooler and we talk about a lot of things and she feels pretty secure that she can ask me anything but being able to read and research some things on her own or hearing it from others would be great too. It can only help her keep feeling secure in who she is and all the changes. Thanks for another great one.

This is good to know of. My daughter is 6 so still a bit young for it, but I'm always looking for age appropriate reading material for her to enjoy. Not necessarily just books. She has a subscription to Clubhouse Jr. and High Five.

Many blessings,
Rosann

My daughter is 9 and this has been something I've looked at for the past two Christmas', but then pass because I think she's not going to like it and I just wasted the cash. So to win it would be wonderful! =)
