Follow Friday Four Fill In Fun- June 17

1. My closet is full of business files. When you own your own business, certain paperwork has to be kept for a LONG time. Unfortunately, with the small amount of storage I have, that means we have business files stacked up in our closet. Yep, most women have a pile of shoes; I have a pile of boxes that never get touched.

2. I love coming home from work after feeling like I've accomplished something. I am not currently working, but in my most recent job as a student teacher and substitute, I LOVED coming home on the days that I really felt like I connected with a student. I couldn't wait to share with Daniel. On the days that were not so good I found myself driving more slowly. Fortunately there weren't too many of those.

3. In high school I was a nerd. There is no question about it. I'm still a nerd today. I'm teaching my girls already that the nerds are the lovable ones. Don't waste your time chasing the popular boys. The nerds will stick by you for life. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I am teaching my daughters that. I passed up one to many nerds in my high school days because I wanted to trade up. That was a mistake. I'm glad my second husband (and the father of my children) is a nerd like me!

4. I wish I had more time for/to... well, this is actually not something I can answer. I have all the time in the world. It's the physical ability to do things that is holding me back right now. I'm doing everything I want to as far as reading, writing, and playing on the computer. I'm pretty content that I'm not missing out on anything due to time constraints.

thanks for linking up. You are so right on #3, to this day the only people I wish to speak to from high school are the 'nerds'. good people.

It's interesting... I've never met anyone who defines themselves as having hung around the popular crowd. I'm curious about that. Yes, nerds are really good people!

Thanks for stopping by Jennifer.

Oh, I love that you're teaching your girls to go for the nerds. I think I'll start encouraging my girls in the same direction. :)

So jealous about your answer to #4!! It's one of those things I never have enough of and their is just no way for me to "get" more. I try my best to make the best use of my time - but some days I wonder....

Good idea Grumpy. I think all girls should be taught to go for the nerds! LOL

Donna, trust me... I don't WANT to have all this time. I got shingles in March and nerve damage from severe complications in April. I've been sitting on my couch since March 23rd because of the extreme pain my body is in. I WANT to be out teaching, which is what I just graduated from college with the intention of doing. I always thought having all the time in the world would be awesome. In reality I miss having my time filled with things to do. Right now I do short errands with my family, but that is really all I can handle. I guess the moral of my story is... be careful what you ask for! ;-0)

Thanks for playing along! I here you with #2.... so many days, I feel like I didn't accomplish anything at work... But, then my husband explains that is what management is.... constantly putting out fires...

Karen Greenberg said...

Hilary, putting out those fires is probably accomplishing a lot that you don't even realize. It may not seem like you are getting any "real" work done, but I agree with your husband. Give yourself the credit you deserve!

Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Too true about nerds. I've raised my daughter the same way. Now if I could just follow my own advice. I have the horrible habit of always going for the bad boy. I really want to try a nerd but never seem attracted to them or can find one even. :(

That's funny Bree. I have to say... my husband was a bad boy on the outside but a complete nerd on the inside. It took years for that bad boy attitude to fade, but I knew there was a different person hidden in there. I know, that sounds incredibly strange, but it's true. Today we celebrate our 11 year wedding anniversary, so I must have been right on some level! LOL Good luck finding your nerd. One will come along eventually.
