Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. You’ll find me posting over at Life Not Finished about Celebrating One, and I’m excited to welcome Teresa from Vivacious Running Girl to Karen's Healthy Lifestyle.

How to Take Care of Those Lemons

Hi everyone! I am Teresa from Vivacious Running Girl. The past 3 weeks have been crazy! I have had to take SAT’s, work full time, take a huge 4 hour test for work, take finals for college, pack for a big move from Alabama to California, and get a resume package ready for Physician Assistant School. I have had many friends and followers ask me, “How do I handle everything that goes on in my life?” Well the truth is I make lists. I know many people like to write lists down in a planner but that does not work for me. When I have tried to carry a planner, it just gets ruffled up in my purse and is bulky. Also, there is so much technology nowadays….so why not use it? I currently use an app called, “Springpad”. It is great and can be used from mobile devices. I was looking around for a long time for something that syncs with my computer but also works great on the go. This has been the best program for me. The perk is that it is also free!

On Sundays, I plan what I would like to do for the week and spread it out through the days. If there is something that will take more than one day, I will put that on my weekly folder. Here is a screen shot of my folders:

I have folders for the days of the week, weekly, studying, blogging, and anything else that needs to be planned.

Here are some examples for everyday:

For weekly I like to put the overall plan on what I would like to accomplish. I strive to spread it out into tolerable bits and pieces throughout the week so I am not overwhelmed.

Every morning while I eat breakfast, I review my list for that day on my phone. I see if there are things that I did not complete the day before or if there are things that I need to add to the list. It gives me 5 minutes of focus. It also helps me to not forget important things that need to be done or attended to.

Like I said before, the one thing that sold me on this particular program was that it was mobile. I use it when grocery shopping or on the go. Also, it looks almost exactly like the website, so it is easy to navigate and add things on the go.

One thing that truly helps me be productive is just putting a plan and not exact times unless you are obligated for that time. It makes me feel a little less rushed and just having a list in from of me helps me want to accomplish that in that day. I hope this helps you feel more productive and I recommend you take advantage of the free program!

I have had Springpad for a long time and it has just been sitting on my desktop and my iphone because I didn't know what to do with it. But this looks like a great way to streamline all your lists in one place so I'm giving it a go. Thanks!
