Tell Us Something Good- May 10

The Life of Rylie...and Bryce too!

Today's meme, hosted by The Life of Rylie... And Bryce, too! and Angelica's Awesome Adventures, was definitely needed. It's been a rough few days, and it's time to focus on something good.

What is my something good for this week? School is going great as we wind up the school year!

Amber got a B on her spelling test she brought home yesterday. She has been struggling with spelling this year, and a B is pretty good for her. She also feels confident about this week's words. The thing with Amber is that things will come to her on a schedule that no one else knows. Her teacher was worried about her spelling skills, but I knew she would catch on eventually.

Andrea got an A on her science fair project. She was disappointed that she didn't win a prize at the science fair itself, and I was quite surprised at the low score the judges gave her, but she got the points she needed to get an A in the grade book. To be honest, that's the more important part to me. The judges are just parents and community members, so their judging may not take into account what the teacher taught. By getting an A, I know that Andrea learned the concepts the teacher found to be important.

I am so proud of both of my girls when it comes to school. They are not straight A students, and Amber can be a bit of a trouble-maker, but they both talk about concepts they've learned and seem to be really growing. Amber's reading took off this year, and Andrea has found a love for science. I am looking forward to doing projects with them this summer to continue the learning until they get back to school to soak up more knowledge.

Congratulations to your girls!!!

Karen, I love that you recognize progress and achievement for each of your girls, even though it may be different for both of them. I think I need to remember that lesson with my own kiddos. Sometimes I expect their strengths to be tailor-made to my expectations! I needed your post this morning!

I agree the grade is better than the prize but I can see how it'd be hard for her!

I'm sorry you have had a rough week, but this post is definitely something good! A grade of a B is great for Amber, and the best part is that she feels confident about this week's words. Hopefully she will keep that confidence. And congratulations to Andrea for that A! I agree with you that the grade is more important than the prize, because the grade shows that she impressed the teacher who taught the subject matter. It sounds like both of your girls are doing well in school.

Thanks for linking up with us today!

Sarita: Thank you! I wish I had known my strengths and weaknesses better as a younger student. I hope my girls will continue to listen to their dad and I when we point it out so they can make the best of it!
